The faculty can be traced back to 1981, the period when the Jomo Kenyatta University College of Agriculture (JKUCAT) was established. Since then, the faculty has undergone various changes in line with the changing demands in training agricultural sciences. Modern programmes, research undertakings in the various areas of food sciences, horticulture and land and environmental sciences have been ongoing.

In an attempt to ensure that Agriculture gets the personnel with adequate knowledge and skills to propel the industry forward, JKUAT has over the years engaged in training highly skilled manpower in this field.

Currently, the Faculty of Agriculture at JKUAT has two departments namely Horticulture and Food Science and Technology.

The training facilities in the faculty are some of the best in the region and we are also endowed with highly skilled manpower in the above disciplines, hence we provide high quality training at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
