Equipping students with Information search skills for research and learning

Land Resources Planning and Management first year students had the second session of their training on e-resources on 27th March 2012. While giving a vote of thanks, one of the students said that they now know what sites to visit for their research. Acquainting students with internet sites that have scholarly and authoritative information is one of the key objectives of the training. The sessions also equip students with advanced information search skills. Lecturers are encouraged to organize similar training sessions with the library.

Land Resources Planning and Management first year students had a training session in the library on Tuesday 20th March. The second session of the training with the same group will be on 27thMarch 2012. The training was carried out during their communication skills class. This is a move in the right direction given that this is the first time students have been brought for a practical library class. Kudos to Madame Naomi! E-resources training for undergraduate students

Quality research, learning and teaching can only be achieved through access to information. It is the library’s mandate to ensure the JKUAT community has access to information. In addition to the rich collection of books in the library, JKUAT library avails databases of electronic information sources in form of electronic journals and books through the library website at http://jkuat.ac.ke/departments/library/.
