JKUAT Library staff during the LMC meeting

The JKUAT Library held its quarterly LMC meeting on 9th and 10th April 2015 in the main campus Library Boardroom. The meeting brings together all the main campus heads of sections and the librarians in charge of JKUAT’s various campuses. One of the objectives of the meeting is to ensure that the JKUAT campuses are mentored by the mother library thus maintaining standardised library services across all our campuses.

In her opening remarks, the University Librarian, Dr. Roselyne Mangira, reminded those present that our services have to be aligned to the Commission for University Education (CUE) Guidelines. She noted that there has been a marked progress in service delivery in the campus libraries that have been consistently represented in the meetings. She also encouraged staff to identify short courses that could help bridge any existing skills gap.

On the first day of the meeting, Ms. W.F Wachira, the Deputy University Librarian, Administration and the Acting Deputy University Librarian in charge of Technical Services presented their reports. Dr. G.M Gatero, the University Librarian in charge of academic programmes updated members on the status of the proposed Information Literacy Policy and Curriculum. He reported that the proposal is at an advanced stage and implementation may be begin before the end of the year. The proposed Revised Library Rules and Regulations were also tabled and adopted for submission to the University Library Management Committee later in the year.

will also be a presentation on the JKUAT IR on the same day. The University ICT Directorate will be represented for the day’s session. This will give the JKUAT Library an opportunity to update the Directorate on areas where we need their support. The Library has been a beneficiary of the close collaboration we have had with the ICT Directorate.
