JICA Kenya Officials Visit to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ngumi

On August 31st, 2018, Ms. Keiko Sano, Chief Representative, Mr. Shinjiro Amameishi, Deputy Head of Mission, Ms. Shoko Isokawa and Mr. Simon Kariuki from the JICA Kenya Office made a courtesy visit to the new Vice Chancellor, Prof. Victoria Ngumi.

JICA Kenya Office congratulated Prof. Ngumi on her new appointment as a Vice Chancellor and Ms. Sano emphasized that the JICA Kenya Office and the Project Office have worked closely with Prof. Ngumi since she was the Deputy Vice Chancellor, and she wishes to continue working closely with JKUAT.

Prof. Ngumi mentioned that JKUAT has been receiving technical cooperation from the Government of Japan since the 1980’s and have worked very closely with JICA for a long time.  In addition, she mentioned that she is an alumni of JICA training where she was trained in the area of Plant Physiology from September 1985 to March 1986 and also a beneficiary of Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan (MEXT) scholarship where she pursed a Master of Science degree at Hiroshima University in Japan.

Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ngumi and JICA Kenya Officials agreed to continue working closely particularly on the four major area of Agriculture, Engineering, Science and Technology to build on government big four agenda including manufacturing, universal healthcare, affordable housing, and food security.
