Dr. Jane Ngethe, the Registrar of the Pan African University Institute for Basic Sciences, Technology and Innovation (PAUSTI) and Sachiko Oda, Project Coordinator for the AFRICA-ai-JAPAN Project visited Addis Ababa in Ethiopia in mid December, 2018. In Addis Ababa, there was an opportunity to meet with alumni from Pan African University Institute for Governance, Humanities and Social Sciences (PAUGHSS) and Pan African University Institute for Water and Energy (PAUWES).
Chris C. Nneji, was a PAUGHSS alumni from Nigeria who completed MSc. in Governance and Regional Integration of Africa in 2017. He was recently working as an intern at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ), which is a German Development Agency which has a country office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
He shared his experience of studying in PAUGHSS and stated that the university developed his networking, integration skills and knowledge, including leadership to take upon new challenges.
Vivian Nwadiaru Ogechi, was a PAUWES alumni from Nigeria who completed a MSc. in Energy Engineering in September 2017. She also had experience working as an intern at GIZ for six months where her work was focused on Higher Education and Strategy. She expressed that PAU was a good initiative particularly for the youth in Africa.
The alumni from different PAU institutes have acquired strong skills and knowledge during their studies and now playing outstanding roles in different countries.
PAU is a flagship project of the African Union founded in 2010 to promote Africa’s socio-economic transformation and integration. It is implemented through a network of universities based in the five nodes of Africa.
