On 10th May, 2019, the Pan African University for Basic Sciences Technology and Innovation (PAUSTI) 6th cohort students who will pursue masters and PhD studies under the Pan African union scholarship assembled at the AICAD Assembly Hall for their welcome speech address. They consisted of 115 students (41 PhD and 73 MSc) drawn from 35 countries across Africa. Somalia and Mauritania were newly represented in this cohort having one (MSc) and Three (2 PhD, 1Msc) respectively.

The Ministry of Education Representative Mr. Evans Atambo, DVC Academic Affairs Prof. Robert Kinyua, PAUSTI Director Prof. Gabriel Magoma, PAUSTI Registrar Dr. Jane Ng’ethe, JICA Representatives Chief Advisor Prof. Hiroshi Koaze, and other dignitaries were also present.
Prof. Kinyua congratulated the students on winning the scholarship and stated that ‘You have a chance to change the status of Africa by receiving this education.’
He also acknowledged the support of African Union Commission, the Government of Kenya and the Government of Japan, and promised that JKUAT is committed to the success of PAUSTI.

JICA Chief Advisor, Prof. Koaze was delighted to know that there were new countries represented this time and was content to see the growth of PAUSTI as we see many graduands every year. He assured support from the Project whilst the students are studying in PAUSTI.
The Pan African University for Basic Sciences Technology and Innovation (PAUSTI) sixth cohort students will engage in a five weeks intensive language courses before they start their respective courses.
